Raspberry Pi Pico is Raspberry Pi’s first microcontroller board, built around the RP2040 microcontroller designed in-house by Raspberry Pi. It is intended for physical computing, embedded systems, and hardware experimentation, rather than running a traditional operating system.
The board features a dual-core Arm Cortex-M0+ processor running at up to 133 MHz, with 264KB of on-chip SRAM and 2MB of onboard QSPI flash memory for code and data storage. Programming is performed over USB using C/C++ or MicroPython, with drag-and-drop support via USB mass storage mode.
Raspberry Pi Pico exposes 26 multi-function GPIO pins, supporting digital I/O, analog input, PWM, and programmable I/O functions. Castellated edges allow the board to be surface-mounted directly onto carrier boards, making it suitable for both prototyping and production use.
This version of Raspberry Pi Pico is supplied without pre-soldered header pins. For breadboard use or quick prototyping, headers must be soldered separately, or the Pico H variant can be used instead.
