This HAT features sixteen 0–10V analogue outputs generated by 14-bit PWM timers. While the onboard discrete components provide a default accuracy of 1%, this can be improved to up to 0.1% through calibration. Command-line utilities are available to perform analogue field calibration.
The board can be powered using a 24VAC transformer or any DC power supply within the 10V to 24V range. It delivers 5V with up to 3A to a Raspberry Pi as well as any additional HATs in use. Communication is primarily handled via the Raspberry Pi’s I2C interface and is compatible with all models from the Raspberry Pi Zero through to the Raspberry Pi 5.
An RS485 communication interface is also included. This can be controlled either by the Raspberry Pi or by an onboard local processor. When operated via the local processor, jumpers can be used to disconnect the RS485 lines from the Raspberry Pi, thereby freeing up GPIO pins (RS485 uses GPIO pins 8 and 10).
When using RS485 with the local processor, the board can operate independently without a Raspberry Pi, supporting standard MODBUS commands with full access to all I/O channels. Each output channel includes a programmable status LED. Additionally, a hardware watchdog monitors the Raspberry Pi and automatically triggers a hardware reset in case of software failure or lockup.
The HAT can also be integrated with Home Assistant.
